Mission & Values

The Waunakee TDC Youth Football Program was founded in 1993, and is a tackle football program for fourth, fifth and sixth graders in our community.

The Program’s youth philosophy and orientation is promoted through its motto:  Fun and Fundamentals.

Waunakee TDC Youth Football is a community program managed and coached by adult volunteers.  The objectives of the Waunakee Program are:

1.   Provide fun, recreational activity for all participants

2.   Promote the values of teamwork and good sportsmanship

3.   Teach basic football fundamentals and proper football techniques.

Other information about the Waunakee TDC Youth Football Program:

  • Teams are formed by grade and compete against other same grade teams in the Badger Central Youth Football League.  This league was formed over 10 years ago to provide a safe, fun and instructional youth football league and includes teams from approximately 17 communities in and around Dane County.
  • You will be playing tackle football, however, there are special rules designed for youth programs to promote safety.  Please refer to the league website for specifics.
  • Every player will get a lot of playing time in both practices and games.  Our main goal is for players to have fun while learning about sportsmanship, teamwork and football fundamentals.
  • Equipment and game uniforms are provided by the program and are well maintained.
  • Player fees pay for equipment rental, league fees, certified game officials, etc.
  • We generally practice three times per week beginning in early August and then twice a week once games begin.
  • Our coaches are parent volunteers, and are held accountable to provide a positive, rewarding football experience for our players.
  • All of our coaches receive Player Safety Training and must pass a USA Football coaching certification class.
  • Teams will play between six and seven games depending upon grade level, and game action normally begins in late August or early September.
  • Player weigh in will occur at equipment handout.
  • We require that every player have a physical exam within the last two years in order to participate.
  • First year players must provide a copy of their birth certificate at the time of equipment handout / program weigh in.
